I'm actually really enjoying it (I'm to about chapter 30ish). The only thing I'm really disappointed about is a lack of Nico. HE BETTER BE BACK IN THE LATER BOOKS, DAMMIT. (But, in the meantime, we get Leo. Who I kind of love to death.)

Did you realize that the chapters have roman numerals?

I'm mad about everyone but Annabeth, Rachel, and Thalia getting shafted. Yeah, Thalia deserves her extra page time. But FUCKIT I LIKE PERCY JACKSON.

Is it bad that I didn't make that connection until you said it? ^^;

THALIA. I haven't gotten to her appearance yet, but I'm happy she's back-- especially considering she seriously got shafted in TLO. But Percy's got to show up in the series eventually. Has to.

(And at least it's not like The Red Pyramid, where I felt virtually no attachment to any characters...)

I didn't realize until almost the end of the book, haha.

The good thing about it is that now I'm motivated to write "what happened to Percy during TLH."

so do the original crew show up at all?

I'm thinking I'm probably going to consider it AU whenever I get around to reading it because lala the PJO series has ended and everything I read so far does not seem good.

Some. Thalia and Hera have the biggest parts of any returning characters. Annabeth and Rachel are secondary characters. Chiron is there a bit. Clarisse and Jake Mason make cameos. :)

It was definitely a let-down, but to be perfectly fair to the book, that has more to do with me expecting something completely different than it does with the book being badly written or something.

So I guess I shouldn't get that as an early Christmas gift for myself, huh?

Sure you should. I... well, I realize that I should be less attached to the old characters.

...I feel bad because I actually really enjoyed it. Maybe I am defective :(

Now that I'm distanced from "Oh guess what. Percy will not be in the book" (WHY RIORDAN WHY) I can say that it's not a bad book, I was just disappointed by the lack of Percy. I think the series has a lot of potential, too, so I'm stoked for the next book.

Love Leo, though.

I loved Leo. And man, I loved the undercurrent about Piper and her father, and being cut off from their cultural heritage.

Jason's age creates a plothole you can drive a truck through, but what can you do? It's hilarious.
