Challenges, as opposed to prompts, but still helpful, I think:
- Write 500 words of fictional prose in first-person narrative but without using the word "I". (I tried this, it's fun)
- Write 500 words of fiction, consisting of mostly, if not entirely, dialogue between two characters. Have a beginning, a middle and an end, some form of conflict and some form of a resolution, and show the relationship between the two characters (husband and wife? mother and daughter? etc), through dialogue.
- Describe a chance meeting between two perfect strangers. Focus your imagery on two or three senses - hearing, smell - NOT including sight.
