My New Obsession

Sep 16, 2007 00:01

This post is simply to enlighten my friends on my newest obsession. I have spent the past couple of weeks watching copious amounts of Grey's Anatomy, a show I never got into but due to the hype and my need to always be in the know regarding everything television, I figured it was time to catch on ( Read more... )

aw ((tiff)) I'm so glad you found that warm and fuzzy ship feeling again :)

I don't watch Grey's regularly but I have tuned in here and there. I did really like Alex/Izzie even though I thought Alex can be a complete ass and player. He can also be bluntly honest and endearing though too. This is coming from someone who doesn't care too much for Dr. McDreamy though(gasp I know lol). And the Denny story unfortunately changed my opinion of Izzie.

In order for me to get into another online fandom I would REAAAAALLLY have to be head over heels for the couple. So I say just sit back and enjoy (Alezzie?Izzex? I'm Grey's ignorant :D) from a distance.

And ITA that scene was brilliant.

You know what it is, the honeymoon period. There is nothing like the feeling of getting into a new couple. Being the ultimate romantic that I am, I thrive on it. So that's what's been enjoyable. Before all the pain and heartache and baggage. But already, some of the twists and turns have been pretty hard to swallow ( ... )

I'm glad you're enjoying Grey's. Like a lot of people, I had some issues with season 3, but I'm still excited for the new season. I never really got on the Alex/Izzie bandwagon, mostly because Izzie isn't one of my favorite characters. And I honestly don't know why. I guess I just like the others more. But Alex really grew on me in season 3, and I think it all started with that scene at the end of season 2. That was a brilliant scene in a brilliant episode. I remember crying a lot during that episode.

Anyway, it's always fun falling for a new TV couple, and it's good to know it can still happen after certain events that transpired on a certain show...

Yes, the falling in love with a new couple is the greatest feeling. It's just the best.

Well, it's really unusual for my couple on a show to be a supporting one. Usually it's the main one that I'll love, but in this case it's Alex/Izzie. I loved Izzie until the Denny stuff. And when that's not coming up, I really like her. I just hated the way that story was played.

As it is, I think I would say Alex is my favorite character. I love him, and a lot of my problem with Izzie is that I didn't find her love story with Denny to be believable, and it starts to feel like her relationship with Alex was nothing but sex to her. Friends with benefits, and I know Alex feels more. I need to see something from Izzie, and I hope they'll do their story justice.

Wait, watch, and see, huh?

SQUEE!!!

I know you're a long-time fan, so can I ask you, do you think they'll get a happy ending (together)?

I think there is a chance and I'm hanging all my hopes on it. However, I don't think it will happen in S4 because Alex will be very busy with Ava, Callie and Meredith's sister and Izzie will need to recover from George fling, but who knows, maybe in the end of the season. I'll wait! :D

GA has some really great moments, amid some dreck, and that is one of them. Alex definitely grew on me and became more three-dimensional. The only thing I really didn't like was when he ratted out Addison for granting a patient's wish to have her tubes tied without her husband's knowledge.
I knew Denny was gonna die from the moment Izzie smiled at him but that story goes on...and on....
So...how far into Season 3 are you? Alex just gets better in Season 3 and Izzie bakes a lot of muffins. There, that's not spoilerish!

*le sigh* Really. That is all.

Actually, I didn't like that move on Alex's part either. I just don't get why he did it other than maybe being petty because he was working in obstetrics with Addison. I mean, but then right at the beginning of S3 he goes and has sex with this (seemingly much) older former patient. He can be very self-destructive, but there is a lot of heart there too, and I see it most prominently with Izzie.

Ugh. Let me go on record. I. Hate. The. Denny. Storyline. I just found it so dumb on everyone's part. He was inappropriate with so overtly coming on to her at first. She was way out of line for falling for him and going to the illegal lengths for him that she did. They only interacted within the context of the hospital, and they didn't really know each other. What is so heart-stopping (pun intended) about that ( ... )

Yes, that is what it's good for: a fun escape, which I just don't get anymore with Lost. Thank you so much for inviting me to your and shoe's chats during the show. *hug*

See, I keep hearing that, and it's even hard for me to disagree because I can see how they could never write Alex/Izzie together again. And normally I wouldn't worry because I'm pretty strict about canon and there were really only ever hints from the beginning about these two being together, but Grey's edges more on soap opera and all bets are off then.

So I'm genuinely curious why y'all think there's little hope for them. Now, I do still have to finish S3, but if Izzie/George went over so badly, doesn't that at least partly bode well for Alex/Izzie? Still, though, whatever happens, we'll always have that scene, which is just beautiful.

Hmm, okay. Well, I also know about Ava, so we'll see where that goes. It just so amazes me that Izzie would have "fallen" for George. In the same way she so quickly had this great love for Denny. I just don't really get it, which is how somewhere along the way, Izzie lost her spot as my favorite character. It bugs me how she seems to fall for every guy except the one that IMO is obvious.

I haven't gotten to the episode you're referring. When I watch it, I'll let you know. In any case, I'll let you know when I finish the season and maybe by then I'll get a better sense of where things stand.

I don't think I'll ever want anyone but Alex/Izzie together, though, and I hope that doesn't set me up for major disappointment. But it wouldn't be the first time.
