Five meerkats were euthanized Thursday, a day after a 9-year-old girl reached her hand into the exhibit and was bitten. That's really upsetting! If I were her parents I would have taken her to get the shots and marked it as a lession learned for the little brat! At that age I would have taken the shots b/c I wouldn't want the animals to die. I would have been crushed to know they were going to kill them b/c I was a stupid little girl with stupid parents!!!!

I was about to comment to ask for your source(s), and there it is already. :) I noticed the article is unclear as to why all five kats hat to be killed & tested. I assume they couldn't identify exactly which one bit her.

That is asinine!! First off, for the little girl to have crawled over all those barricades with her parents watching while she furthermore reached down into the cage - what the Fthht were her parents doing all that time? IF they weren't watching, where were they? It had to have taken her some time to climb those barricades! Did her parents actually help her over them? What did they think was going to happen?
All her parents have taught her is not to take responsibility for her actions. I wish the zoo could sue!
Uggh - I hate humans.
