No trains for the corporatocracy

Sigh, look, I know we don't actually live in a democracy (but a corporatocracy instead), and I should never expect the relevant ministers to care about my meek little protestations otherwise, but I keep writing these letters to ministers for transport anyway, under the vague hope that it might remind them that they're ministers for transport, and ( Read more... )

There's a general theme in the UK of replacing level crossings with bridges mainly because of idiots who can't be bothered to wait and instead play chicken with the trains, especially with half-barrier crossings (which ironically were intended to be safer because they don't block the exits from the crossing). This is despite many warnings over the years, including a spectacular Top Gear one when they lobbed a 60mph train at an Espace or something.
