About the recent reversal of top and bottom in the ZoSan pairing, I think some of it can have to do with people having seen so much top-Zoro and bottom-Sanji that they just feel like having the reverse every now and then just to keep things spicy. I personally always prefered Sanji on top (though I imagine they would switch, and that's how I think of them when I draw or write them), but I've talked to others who have just grown a little... maybe 'tired' isn't the right word, but they've had so much bottom-Sanji that bottom-Zoro feels more exotic and exciting to them these days.
oh, thank you so much for viewing and commenting! I like drawing Okama Sanji a lot, he's very amusing, and he's strangely pretty. Oda draws Okama with really, really exaggerated features, but Sanji has naturally more delicate and balanced looks- so he's automatically prettier, even without the dress and makeup, haha.
And yeah, I get what you mean about people wanting to switch their roles to keep things fresh. I personally gravitate more towards ZoSan, because I fell in love with the fandom in that order ( Yamatoooo )- but I don't have a problem with SanZo, haha. It seems the Japanese fandom is also into this SanZo thing- I've seen some really, really good SanZo fanart.
I am not averse to Zoro being bottom, I think it's weirdly hot- haha. Mihawk/Zoro and Enel/Zoro, for instance- are interesting.
It does seem like most people prefer the pairing order they started out liking. I started shipping SanZo while reading the manga, long before I got into the fandom, and so I was pretty disappointed when I got into fandom only to discover that there was maybe one SanZo fanfic for every seventy ZoSan. The fact that the first ZoSan fic I read featured a weepy, helpless uke Sanji and big, bad, emotionally abusive seme Zoro didn't exactly do a good job of warming me up to ZoSan either, so I literally refused to read it for several years XD . I still don't think ZoSan is anywhere near as sexy as SanZo after that first bad experience, but I'm happy for the people who do.
I'm trying to get into ZoSan more now, though, so I'll have more to do in the fandom. Baby steps.
Im sorry you had such a bad experience with ZoSan! ;A; I really dislike it too when people write Sanji as this weak helpless uke, and Zoro as this mean rapist seme- > < Mine was a fairly wonderful experience, so the imprinting is strong in my mind hahaha. But Im starting to warm up to SanZo too :) I think that SanZo is getting more and more popular now, so you're really not alone!

My favorite is imageconsultant!Sanji, who apparently would like Zoro to have Hisagi Shuuhei's hairstyle.
I don't read fanfic (not much, anyway), so I can't speak about that, but if you've noticed an increase in SanZo doujinshi scanlations, that may be because I've been actively pushing for them. I like to work on scanlations with Arigatomina, and she favors SanZo over ZoSan, so I've been digging around, looking for good doujinkas who do SanZo. Ari loves her Hachimaru S/Z, and so do I, but I figured there *had* to be other doujinkas working S/Z, and there are. I was delighted to find Tsurugi (Gladiolus), and have grabbed up 6 or 7 of her books. We just released the first Tsurugi scanlation on the 25th -- I saw your post in the release thread, and I'm glad you liked it. We'll be doing more Tsurugi, definitely. There's also some S/Z by Ichioku, and I've found a few others. S/Z is nice break from Z/S, but I personally prefer ZoSan, because I like Sanji to be the object of desire.

I mean, SanZo is fun to read occasionally, but because I sort of fell in love with the fandom via Yamato's amazing doujinshi ( which are mostly ZoSan ), I tend to gravitate towards ZoSan more. I like the idea of Sanji being a strong willed "bottom", and Zoro being a passionate, stubborn "top". I think that ROM 13, Saruya Hachi, and Yamato write absolutely beautiful Sanjis and Zoros. Recently, though- it seems like everyone is SanZo here and there, haha, so I felt a little lonely being on the ZoSan side.
And thank you very much ! I have this thing for Zoro with longish, unkempt hair. It seems his post time skip look would allow that- his hair is much longer now.
And ffff I can't wait for your scanlations! <3 Everytime I log into LJ I look for releases from futarikiri, summarpirates, arigatomina, or harudaki- all of which scanlate top quality ZoSan/SanZo.
I fell in love with OP doujinshi via Yamato, too. I was happy with my one fandom (KakaIru) and had no interest in collecting/scanlating in another, but then I stumbled upon "Pirate Ship Noah" and "Natsume (Damn Summer)" -- IIRC, Futarikiri released a PSN chapter and "Natsume" on the same date -- and I was done for. I started buying up all the Yamato I could get my hands on, and soon after that I discovered ROM-13 and I was completely lost to it. No regrets, except that it is VERY EXPENSIVE!!! >_ZoSan or SanZo, I'm fine with either/both as long as Sanji is treated well. Zoro's okay, but I read for Sanji. Whether he's seme or uke, or it's a gen/all-chara story, if Sanji's happy, I'm happy. I also like Luffy/Sanji and Ace/Sanji. I love Sanji, so I like to see all the other characters loving him, too

YOU ARE MAKING ME FLAIL WITH JOY ;A;Wow, when I have enough money, Im going to kill my wallet all over again doing what you did- buying every single Ichioku/Hachimaru/ROM 13/Misc pretty OnePiece doujin the world's been putting out there. You know, my urge to buy these doujin is stronger than my urge to buy actual original manga, hahaha. It's just soooo good! Im a Yamato fan through and through, thanks to Pirate Ship Noah ( the epicness of the doujin knows no bounds. NO BOUNDS. It's pretty art, solid plot, and gorgeous, gorgeous characterization all in one, I can see how it's going to convert people~~! )...but the real "turning point", for me at least, was Kierkegaard no Jitsuzon. My heart sort of stopped, in a very good way. But I really flail over ROM 13, Saruya Hachi, Haga Inochi as well! In my opinion, if One Piece was shonen ai, that's how it would roll. Ichioku, ROM 13, and Hachimaru are probably the power trio of One Piece doujin, haha

Mine was a fairly wonderful experience, so the imprinting is strong in my mind hahaha. But Im starting to warm up to SanZo too :) I think that SanZo is getting more and more popular now, so you're really not alone!
