Angel listens to the message four times before he makes out exactly who it is. It's the hair gel comment that convinces him it has to be Xander. He checks his missed calls like Kara has taught him to do and presses the only number he doesn't recognize. When Xander's message pops on he resists the urge to be a dick because it's clear Xander is grieving too.
"Next time you decide to drink away your grief stick to wine coolers, Xander. I'm not going to discuss Cordy with you on the phone, but if you want to meet at a bar, I'll buy you a beer and we can talk. Hair gel is not on the approved list of topics."
