andrew, would it be a good idea to send, say, 30 copies of the same book? or is 30 different titles better? what about big maps and world atlases?
edited to add: and do you and nicole have your laptop with you in mali? if so, would you like some movies on [home-burned] DVDs? I have a few things of this and that on my various harddrives that I'm sure would be better than nothing!
Sorry its taken so long to respond. We do have our laptop (and access to a DVD player and TV) so sent movies would be much appreciated.
The Moomintroll book was much appreciated. Are there more?
Bag Maps and world atlases are great. We bought some cheap world maps from Target, but they're not amazing.
Unfortunately, the schedule is too regimented to allow a French or English teacher to spend multiple weeks reading a book in class, but I think multiple copies of some books would be really useful. 30 of the same book would be enough for one book for every 3 students in the 7th grade, so it still would be difficult for all of the students to do reading assignments (As I've found out from my biology class with about 30 books). 5 copies of 6 books (or vice versa) would probably work out pretty well.
