A little bit of honesty re SGU

From Brian J Smith, who was asked about SGU's demise:

The economics fell through and the ratings sucked big time. You can point fingers and you can blame whoever you want, but the ratings were not there. Stargate Universe was one of the most expensive TV series to shoot on television, period. There are shows out there that get 20 million viewers ( Read more... )

It makes no sense to be spending that kind of money on a show.

***nods***
Particularly when the one that they replaced it with was not broken.....
When I think of what they could have done with that $$$$$$ to further SGA.........
**shakes head in disbelief**

Well, they were sure riped off on whatever was spent on writing, decision making on plots and a few other key areas.

I hope this reaches the fanboys who's been whining that SGU got cancelled despite its ratings and not because of them. Although somehow I doubt that a delusion that strong can be cured.

Very interesting. Thanks for linking this. Hmmmmm . . . is all I can say. To be honest, I've never been impressed with BJS when I've read interviews with him. He's appeared quite opinioniated and has seemed to take critcisms very personally. He actually, IMO, has come across as quite confrontational in interviews, as well as having a very fragile ego. Also, I've thought he's been ill informed about certain things I won't go into here. Of course, that's just my opinion on him from interviews of his I've read. I can only judge him on his interviews, as I've never met him and don't know him personally.

I do agree with him here though. SGU didn't have good ratings ever considering the cost of the show; it didn't make sense for the show to continue from a business standpoint. How refreshing to read such comments from BJS.
