How The Waves Break On Your Body

A Loki/Thor Little Mermaid!Fusion

"You want to be like humans. I can do that, but you still won't be human. With every step you'll feel pain, like sharp knives stabbing your feet. Once you touch the ground there'll be no way back. You can never become a mermaid again. And if you don't win the prince's love, your heart will break the morning after his wedding to another. And you'll melt, drifting as sea foam forever. Unless you kill them both."

Because I seem to be incapable of making things easy for myself, I chose to do a Little Mermaid fusion. The quote above is from the 1970s czechoslovakian movie that is my favourite adaption of the original fairytale. It's way better than the Disney version. (Which is a good thing, because fairytales aren't fairytales unless someone dies in them.) So, lo and behold: Loki as a Mermaid!

It's Prince Loki's birthday, and his father, the Sea King gifts to him a fleet of ships that dared sail over their kingdoms. As he watches the sailors fight against the storm and fall into the sea and drown, one of them catches his eye, his pale skin and blond hair so different from anybody he's seen in his centuries of life. He decides to save him and carries him from the depth of the ocean to the nearest shore.

He stays just long enough to watch a few women approach the beach, before he returns home. But he can't forget about the man, and so he goes to Laufey, the sea witch (just go with it) to find a way to survive on the surface. He offers offers him a deal: his voice for the ability to walk and breathe on land. Loki takes it, thinking it will be worth it if he can just see the human Prince again. But it's already too late. The prince has fallen in love with one of the women that found him on the beach.

03. To Me You Are The Sea
Altmodisch

Oh, how the boat drifts/ oh, how the tides shift/ i lay my head in/ i hear it coming/ oh, how the waves break on your body.

Until late some dark night/ a wild wind starts to wail/ And our map blows away/ And our compasses fail/ And it’s out on the lost boiling black water/ where I see her float out.
With your song I sing along without fear/ I feel no pain if you come here/ I rise from the ocean floor/ Lifeless I drift ashore/ To me you are the sea

And I abandon my family/ In a fit of rage, in a fit of want for you/ Cause there's nothing else to do when you're confused/ When you're confused

I could be nothing/ Said the waves to the sand/ I could be nothing without you

Now here you go again, you say/ You want your freedom/ Well who am I to keep you down/

From your heart to my heart/ with sails cut from mercy/ We row through the Dead Sea/
to the deader within.

Come out, come out, to the sea my love.../ and just drown with me...
Lie on my back/ Clouds are makin' way for me/ I'm comin' home, sweet home
