026: VISUAL [ nothing is forever, there's got to be something better than in the middle ]

May 15, 2011 00:35

This broadcast is not accidental, although it may seem like that's the case. Max is sitting at her kitchen counter, an empty glass cradled in her hands and a bottle containing a bright blue liquid sitting nearby. She's staring at the counter top, not really looking at anything in particular, and it's a significant amount of time, probably a few ( Read more... )

Is that a vague invite? At least you know I can keep up with you, now.

It's whatever you want it to be.

[ don't take it too personally if she doesn't sound too enthusiastic, damon. she's just very, very sad. ]

As long as there's no teeth this time.

[ and there's her way of saying 'yes, it's an invite'. ]

[Visual] *ahem* Pardon the tl;dr icanhaslogic May 15 2011, 06:50:19 UTC
Spock is fairly certain that recognizes that blue liquid, but there isn't much to say about it. This isn't Federation territory as far as he can tell, and coming on top of a declaration like that, the human half of him can understand the escapism that his Vulcan half can't ( ... )

Max is about a glass and a half into the bottle when Spock responds to her, and when she looks at the screen it's clear that she's on her way to intoxication. Her cheeks are flushed and her eyes are bleary, almost as if she's holding back tears. She's not, though. She hasn't cried about this yet, which is something that surprises even her. When Peter, Buffy, and Cordelia left, she was inconsolable for hours. Kirk's departure doesn't hurt any less than theirs did, but all she feels right now is numb.

She nods in response to the man addressing her, looking down for a moment. "Yeah. His...dot, or whatever else you'd call it is gone."

[Visual] Oh, good. Because I get the feeling that there's going to be a lot of it. icanhaslogic May 15 2011, 07:27:19 UTC
It only took a moment to verify that, and, sure enough, the last illogical piece of hope that Spock had was gone. He wasn't just hiding somewhere, wasn't out on his own trying to pretend that everything was alright when everyone else knew that it wasn't, he was actually gone. It was strange to think about--even if Spock hadn't been here all that long himself, the captain had said (what?) two years. Two years that Spock couldn't account for, but two years all the same. And now vanished.

Strange.

"...I see."

((Shut up this isn't a mirror icon >>;; ))

She nodded again, looking back down as the man confirmed Kirk's sudden absence for himself. The glass was rotated in her hands a few times before she spoke up again.

"I'm sorry." It's not much, nor is it adequate, but it's all there really is to say.

[ buffy feels just about like she has everything on her plate but SOMEWHERE between obsessive patrolling and not-sleeping, she manages to catch this. ]

...Oh.

Yeah.

[ max isn't sure what to say, here. she knows that buffy doesn't remember having dated him, but from the sound of her voice, it's something she didn't want to hear. ]

I'm sorry.

Yeah, me too. Sorry.

[ and suddenly, she feels good over having apologized to kirk over cheating on him. even if it hadn't really been her. buffy suspects she would have felt worse if it had gone undiscussed. ]

Thanks.

[ there's a heavy sigh on max's end, and when she speaks again, her voice sounds a bit heavier, like she's holding something back. ]

I always seem to forget about things like this. That they're possible, and can happen any minute.

[ the glitches, people ones are close to suddenly getting ripped away, everything else that comes with living in this city. ]

[ a longer beat. ]

I guess it's not. Although I always seem to forget that it's a possibility, until it happens again.
