[What? She just can't complain enough. But she's pretty sure this guy didn't see her in all of her...glory, so there's that.]

You think they did this for laughs?

[ and she didn't see him all done up like Earl Git of Poshington-On-Wanker, they were even like that. ]

'Course they did, shits and giggles are all they're interested in.

I don't know about you? But I'm pretty tired of being the puppet.

What, already? But you've barely arrived.

[Have a familiar voice laced with cyanide. No more pleasantries here]

I'm going to burn this city like a S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W when I find the hamster responsible for this.

[ this? this is precisely why Fitz keeps a casual eye on you guys. ]

That's a fab idea, seeing as it worked out so well last time.

They have to learn not to wheel and deal with a Killjoy, zonerat. [Oh yes, Fitz has been upgraded, if slightly, in Party's big book of slang.] You can't just... Just turn us into things. Ain't got no freedom, no fist-pumpin' shouts from God. Can't just flip a switch and bam, boom, pow, BLI\ind. thanks you for your hard work. Nope. I'm not letting any of them touch me again.

[ Fitz'll take the compliment, probably. ] I hope they don't, truly.

[ and, in the hopes of distracting Party before he really got going: ]

Hey, there's a holiday coming up called Bonfire Night, which is exactly what it says on the tin. Whacking great fire in the town square, fireworks, lots of flash and bang, you and Kobra would love it. Give everyone a chance to blow off some steam.

[Kobra is back to his usual monotone, no overly friendly smile plastered on his face]

Got rid off the suits?

Every last bloody one of them, and I'm not drinking tea ever again.

[ this is a filthy lie but the thought still counts. ]

"Tea isn't so bad but you looked stupid in those suits. Besides we couldn't have played in a teahouse," he pulls a face.

"We could, but it'd offend the old biddies." Can't have that now can we. "I'll have the pub re-opened tonight so we can jam, I think I've got 'Beat On the Brat' just about down."

[ You can't see it, Fitz, but she's got her hands over her face and everything. So. Embarrassed.

There's a bit of Chinese swearing to start her off, then: ]

I am so gorram sorry, Fitz.

Nevermind that, dear. [ posh accent: activated for teasing purposes. ] It was presumptuous of me to be so forward.

[ a pause, and then some poorly-suppressed laughter. ]

[ Yep, definitely best that this is voice, because she's gone red from nose to ears. But she's smiling, and a small, relieved laugh sneaks through. ]

Maybe in that particular case, yeah. Can't imagine why any man'd bring a gal flowers.

[ That? That's teasing. ]

"It looks like," Martha confirmed with some relief. She hadn't been affected herself, but the rest of the city hadn't been so lucky. Dealing with the people who had been glitched was exhausting. At least they didn't know that something was wrong. "Does this mean you're going to swear off tea now? You've probably drank enough to last a lifetime."
