“So, what do you think?”

Damien leaned against the door of the vehicle, folding his arms, waiting for Teagan, Cass and Micah’s assessment of his new car.
Maybe ‘new’ wasn’t the right term. The Camaro looked like it had seen better days. Decades ago, in the very least. It was canary yellow with two black racing stripes. Well, maybe it started off that way. Now it was dull and rusted. Black smoke was still being coughed out of the exhaust.

Damien’s face fell as he took in the girls expressions, which could only be described as ranging from pity to amusement. “It’s a piece of crap, isn’t it?”

Teagan had her lips pressed together, trying figure out how to soften the blow of the fact that Damien was right, and his car was a piece of crap. “Well, I mean, with a little work…” she tried, but her voice trailed off, and she frowned, looking two the other two girls for help.

“It could be worse?” Micah offered with a weak smile.

Cass, on the other hand, had her fist over her mouth in an effort to keep from laughing. Damien glared while Micah hit the blonde across her arm. Cass gave Damien a small smile. “Sorry.”

He smirked. “That’s fine. You can walk home.”

“What’s that sound?”

Damien, Teagan and Cass turned away from the movie they were watching, and looked towards Micah, mouths all full with various junk food. Damien swallowed, and asked “What sound?”

She got up, and walked over to the window, with the others following closely behind. They took a peek out of the curtain, looking down into the front yard, to see the Camaro taking off down the street.

A not very flattering squeal escaped from Damien’s mouth. “Someone’s stealing my car!”

“Why your car though?” Cass asked. She quickly turned to Damien, and added, “No offence.”

“So,” Micah looked at her friends, “what do we do?”

“Call the cops?” Teagan suggested with a shrug.

Damien shook his head. “That asshole will be long gone by the time the cops show up.”

Cass had a look in her eyes, that her friends knew all too well. What she had in mind either was going to be genius, or down right stupid. “Or…”

“Why are we doing this again?” Micah complained. They had only managed to find three bikes in the Harlowe’s garage. She drew the short straw so to speak, and was sitting uncomfortably on the handles bars of the bicycle Damien was riding, hands wrapped around them tight so she wouldn’t fall off.

“Because I said it’d be a good idea.” Cass called from behind.

“But all your ‘good ideas’ are terrible.” Damien muttered.

“I heard that!”

“Hey!” said Teagan, shutting them up. “There it is.”

The four teens abandoned their bikes, and half run, half crouched their way towards Damien’s car. It had been driven to a deserted junkyard, and was sitting idle, the engine still running. Damien muttered something about a waste of gas.

“Get down.”

They crept their way up to a small pile of … well, junk, about fifteen or so metres from the Camaro. Slowly, they stuck their heads out to get a look at the thief.

“There’s no one in there.” Teagan observed.

“What?”

“She’s right,” Cass put in. “There’s no one driving.”

Damien shook his head. “That can’t be right.”

Micah’s eyes widened. “Holy…”

Her voice was drowned out as the car started to move. But, not in the way they were expecting. The car started to grow in height, or at least that’s what it looked like. The parts of the car shifted with loud whirrs, continuing until it had taken on a whole new form. The four teens gaped at the seventeen foot tall robot that the Camaro had become.

Micah broke the silence. “Damien?”

“Yeah?”

She turned towards him, eyes still wide, and she was breathing heavily. “Your car is a giant fucking robot.”

“I can see that Micah, thank you,” he dead-panned.

A small gasp came from Cass’s direction, and the others turned to look at her. “Oh my God, what if it tries to eat us?”

Any reply was cut off, as the robot shifted back into the Camaro it had been to begin with. The four found that watching it the second time was just as weird as the first. The car’s engine started, and drove until it came to a stop right in front of the teens, right as they stood, ready to run for their lives. One of the doors swung open.

Damien took a step forward, then stopped and turned back to face the girls. “I … I think it wants us to get in.”

The girls were reluctant to move any closer to the car, their mouths still hanging open a litle.

“I told you it wants to eat us,” Cass exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air.

Damien laughed, but it was more for the fact that he was still in shock. “Well?”

Micah smirked. “Why the hell not?”
