- Spend an entire night in A&E
Ugh. Past few days have been a bit pants.
We went out on Tuesday for a meal for G's birthday, and it was a very large, rich, OTT meal, and I definitely ate too much. Woke up just after midnight with the worst acid reflux, basically didn't sleep all night, between the throwing up and the chest pain. Called in sick on

111 was supposed to take the burden off 999 but I'm told it hasn't really worked out like that. My understanding is that they don't have the same level of training and basically work off flow charts a lot of the time. Pain anywhere on the torso tends to get translated to 'chest pain --> HEART ATTACK!?'
Our recent experience is that once you've been seen and moved into the system then treatment is good - the chaotic part is being seen. The whole system seems to be running white hot all the time.
Glad that it doesn't seem to be anything serious and hopefully the holiday will help somehow - but does the liver thing mean no booze while you're away?

Yeah... I guess I wouldn't have known the liver thing if 111 hadn't blown it out of proportion, but when I'm literally going 'I'm pretty sure it's not a heart attack' and they're still dialling an ambulance it's not really working. I feel awful, because I didn't need to be in A&E, but I truly did have horrendous pain in my chest - just not THAT kind of pain.
My GP was surprisingly helpful - it can go either way with him - but I think if I need further treatment/investigation I'll go via Vitality. Not only will I get sorted quicker, it'll leave the wards for someone who needs it. They just plain didn't have any free beds at the hospital we were at, it was nuts.
I wasn't planning to drink much anyway - we love a cocktail at home, but we're not big drinkers, and the presence of FiL would probably put me off. I'm more disappointed it means no som tam, and rules out quite a lot of the spiciest/sourest Thai foods. But mango and sticky rice, plus coconut pancakes are still ok, so I'll survive :)
