i'm sorry to say, but i can only empathize on one point, and barely sympathize on the second one. as you know, i can't really sympathize with the third part clarinets, seeing as i've been an oboe all my high school career, and have never seen a song that doesn't have a first or a second oboe part. on another note, i can empathize with people going for london, bcuz for a long time i wasn't going to london. it's safe to say that i felt really left out, i wanted to shoot people who put "london" in their profiles, i hated it when nutting talked about london and mentioned all these "really cool songs" and....GAHHH IT JUST DROVE ME INSANE!
hey, it alison w. so yah, i feel like nuttings been doing that lately too. like i think thats why he's been favoring dave so much as a dm. but i think also, the pressure of this is huge. if we dont do well, it not only looks terrible on the band program, but it looks bad on the school and the district. as well as our state and even on our nation [though thats pushing it a bit. nutting is def the type who would think about that]. but yah, the no 3rd part sucks. completely. but the back of the band deal makes sense. b/c he did say if you couldnt afford it, we could work it out. and the thing is, he wants us to be used to the tendencies of the marchers around us. it wasnt adjusting the block he was worried about. he just wanted us to be used to the tendency like if the person on our left is terrible at guiding. things like that. mmm that is all. have a lovely day. :]
'lo, so: england isn't really a competition. not in the sense of gatlinburg/san antonio. and it's a pretty big deal. i mean, of course most of it's going to be about england. carnegie, everything was about that. everything. and for people who couldn't pay, nutting was more than willing to work things out. having to accomodate random holes and plug people into new lines is hard, especially with the trip in late dec. instead of april. even in concert stuff, people who weren't going to san antonio last year didn't rehearse with us a few months before the trip. just sat in a side room. you have to rehearse as it's going to be there. although it does suck that you guys don't get to play in venetian. but a lot of people aren't playing strange humors, so. the one thing i'm pissed off about right now is that I STILL CAN'T PLAY. i hate my teeth. (but at least i don't have to see madame i-don't-wear-age-appropriate-clothing fortuna every day. and speak french for an entire hour.) :D ~clem
