Writing tips?

How do you write NC fics, guys (girls I mean)?

Do you completely invent it, fully relying on imagination?

Or do you sort of recall your experience with your partner and then just change names?

The reason why I wonder is, that I fail to write NC. I tried both ways, “pure imagination” and “real life experience”. Nothing works. I just stop half way and

For me it a lot imagination, mixed in with some experience. I play my stories out in my head like a movie and I just write what I see.
To be honest the best way to write good NC fic is to go out and read a whole mess of them and take notes. Study how the author describes the scene what words they use, and note how easily you picture it in your mind. Oh and practice practice practice.
