Day 7

Oct 24, 2005 22:21

one of the first things we did after we got up and ready that morning was head over to the Gondola to go to the top of the mountain.  Mel chilled in the vans and did work and Lori stayed with her but Chase, Thayer, and I all rode up and got some pretty cool shots of Queenstown from above.

(notice the bungee platform in the foreground...the damn Kiwis put platforms on anything that someone could reasonably (and occasionally unreasonably) jump off of)

(there were also paragliders riding up to the top and then paragliding back down to the town)

after the mountain we headed over to the Kawarau River

(this is where the Pillars of the Kings were, but i didn't realize that till much later so i didn't get any cool shots of the LotR site...)

of course we weren't really there for the sites so much as...

(the bridge)

(the platform)

(the wave)

(the plunge...ok technically the rebound b/c i couldn't catch Chase on the way down, but the kid is obviously nuts)

after Chase decided to jump off a bridge we headed out of Queenstown and said goodbye to the lakes...

and headed to Te Anau and then cut up to get to Milford Sound (or at least part of the way there)

a lake when we first got into the National Park)

of course right before we got into the Park we also got to see our dear companions that were EVERYWHERE

of course, one of my favorite parts of the day was when we stopped at this amazing valley in the park (about 15 minutes before we reached our campsite)

so we see this amazing valley and what do we do...we play frisbee on it of course (it was so sweet!)
