Wow, well I am glad that so much of it was covered. You still had quite a bill there but it was small compared to what it could have been

What got added, if you're willing to share? Changing a policy without the policyholder's permission is not okay, and I'm actually surprised it happened without you getting written notification.

You usually pay the deductible to the repair facility when your car is finished.

Comprehensive (what your rodent damage falls under) often has a lower ded than collision, but not always. I have $500 for both, and I vaguely remember choosing that when I signed up for Progressive nearly 20 years ago. At the time, I had no idea what anything was, just needed something lower than what AAA was going to charge me when I moved from CA to AZ.

This was a very long time ago, so I don't totally remember. I had called to do something super straightforward and boring, such as maybe updating my address. And they said they could re-evaluate my policy for savings, so I said sure. So the associate went over the policy with me part by part. Then we got to the end and they were rattling off the cost of each to come to a total, and she said some sort of fee for a service...I'm trying really hard here but can't remember what it was, only that it was between $20-$30 and that we had definitely not discussed it leading up to the total. So I stopped her with "Wait, what's that?" and she said, "Oh, that's in case of x..." was it roadside assistance? weather damage? tow? I really don't remember but know that at no point had I added it myself or had it been brought up in our conversation. She went on to say, "It's just something that we add for the convenience--" and I was like, "Wait, YOU added it on?" and there was a long pause, then "Yeah." I was like, "Did I ask you to add this on? Was it ( ... )
