The problem is (well not really a problem) is when you say, "I am me". Who is it that says, "I am me"? If you say, "It is I" Then who is that I again? It's as if we constantly make our "I" an object. But it all changes if you see that forming these kinds of sentences is an action-a process. The ego is the RESULT of the process, but not the process itself, which is in constant flux. The self has more of a verb character to it than a noun.
Others have articulated this much better than me, but I thought I would attempt it. Anyways, I understand your intent....brother.
