Drunk Observations 101: Star Trek, the Animated Series

Jan 20, 2011 21:11

You were expecting sober reflections on Star Trek, the Animated Series? I'm sorry, you're in entirely the wrong journal.

It will surprise exactly none of you that this is the gayest thing I've ever seen. I mean that in an entirely good way, having been pretty much raised by the West Village gay scene in the eighties. I'm just saying, for those of you looking to get your gay on, come check out Star Trek, the Animated Series. It might just be gayer than the gay crying hobbits in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. And that's pretty fucking gay. Which, you know, is good.

For one thing, the male characters are all obviously and entirely gay for one another. The only heterosexual relationship in the entire series comes as the disastrous result of Harry Mudd's love crystals, it's a completely, ravingly unbelievable relationship between Spock and Christine Chapel, and it clearly makes Jim Kirk as jealous as he should be. And leads to this. Which is gay. Which is good. I'm just saying, is all. People should be happy being whatever they want to be. In this case, gay. Really, really gay. Smoking the cartoon pole gay.

Which is good.
