I got a new credit card in the mail today to replace one that's about to expire.  Except I got more than just a credit card. Embedded within is one of those nasty little RFID tags.  Yep.  I'm now officially tagged.

While the convenience of not having to swipe my card at the grocery store is nice, it's probably not worth the security concerns that ( Read more... )

From what I've heard from the other end of things (I work with tracking technologies so we deal with RFID readers, etc.)--no, you're not being paranoid at all. I would honestly call up the credit card company and ask them all of those questions and demand a non-RFID tagged card if they offer one.

It's also going to be a major problem with passports soon, which is really, really retarded. 'Let's make you more secure! Let's broadcast your full name, DOB, SSN and all kinds of other info in a 10' radius around your passport for the rest of your life!'

Our government at work. Sigh.

Of course, since the credit card companies are liable for any fraudulant transactions, who cares if somebody steals your info?
