so this morning we had a close call for hershey kiss he was not his normal self so i picked him up and he seemed off his balance so i hand fed him some water and he seemed to perk up a little i then ran to the store and picked up a cantolope to get some solid in him. so i cut a piece and he was munching down. of course i had to make him taste it so

I would go and get some KMR or PMR and start feeding him right away. SOme pups just dont have the instinct to nurse from mom and you should intervene if you want to save it. I saved a texel a few months ago that was not nursing from mom and he did great with the hand rearing. The trick is to catch them early. I tried to save a texel recently that looked to be nursing but he was not and I got to him to late. ALthough somtimes I think it is an internal problem too when they dont thrive.

thats my hope is i caught him before it got too late. a quick question for you though. he will stand in a ball postition when hes not eating i thought that meant he is having trouble with the bathroom. am i right and if so what can i do to help with that too?

Are you stimulating his bowl movements? You should be stimulating them like the mother does or they will have trouble going.

yes i have been. right after i sent this message i looked in on him and he had pooed it was two little sized ones. i was just making sure that i covered all the bases wanted to make sure other then the stim if there was something else i was missing that i should be doing.
