Not sure how funny this will be to people who don't have to do legal research online all the time.  But to those of us who do, unintentionally funny headnotes in cases can be one of the only things to break up what is otherwise an often monotonous, mindbendingly boring and frustrating exercise.

it's even more funny when you're scouring the law of Maryland to see whether two parties can contract around a standard damages calculation by putting in an alternative "basis" as mandatory in the contract. and then you run across a case discussing the "statute providing measure of damages for improper discharge of seamen."

trust me.
