Since I'm such a pyro, I LOVE making candles. They have those kits you can buy, or I'd just look online under "candle making." I don't advise the kits; they suck.
You might also try pottery, if you're any good at it. Whether you have a studio where you can throw on the wheel or you just get clay and do some random stuff with it, it's messy and fun!
I love the knitting idea! That's amazing you can do that; my friend taught me how to crochet a bit ago. I'm such a ditz when it comes to that stuff.
i was a snare drummer in the santa claus parade for a marching band and you missed it :P .. then again there was alot of snare drummers- the floats were really cheap.
I also knit all my friends scarves last year and was wondering what to do this year. I've decided on hats. They can be really easy or really complex depending on what you want to do. I'm going to be knitting vaguely squarish pieces (I'll be reducing stitches toward the top) on huge needles with chunky yarn (because I am lazy) and then crocheting them together to make vaguely cylindrical shapes. I'll call them hats and tell people they don't love me if they don't wear them.
One of these days when I have time I am going to knit one of those hats with the kitten ears on them. Those are really cute.
