One part of the article jumped out as being particularly ludicrous:
"In other violence on Sunday"
...just the phrasing of that makes it seem like peoples lives ending violently is just normal day-to-day circumstance for people living in the middle east. In fact I'm quite sure that's one goal of the reporting on Iraq violence, to make it seem like death and violence are totally normal in other parts of the world except ours. Oh, how safe we are here, what would we do without the shepherds tending to their flock.
I think that the least fair part of it is that I am going to go to sleep tonight, safe in my warm bed, and this little girl is not. She had to step over a bloodstained threshold today, drenched in the blood of somebody she might have known from school.
I don't see why I deserve to be safe while she doesn't.
