The tester is going to be staring ahead, really, to be extremely alert of what's on the road and so that it doesn't make it completely obvious that your every movement is being scrutinized. So, basically, the tester's using her peripherals. As such, your motions need to be fully exaggerated whenever you are looking in another direction. For those 20-30 minutes, you don't move your eyes, you move your head. You can't tilt your head a bit for the glance that's needed over your shoulder, your back needs to go into it a tad. Become a bobble-head doll at every minor intersection. Make sure your wheels aren't turned until you begin to leave from a stop, aim for about 3mph above the speed limit, and know that government workers were never intended to interact with kids of any age. That and they all hate their job.
No one likes the DMV.

Seriously, the better drivers always fail the tests the first time. I did, Steph did, Jake did, etc. Christian didn't.. and look at him he he he. Jk, but anyway, point being is, next time you'll pass. And for the traffic checks, make it REALLY obvious. Like, exaggerate your head turns.
