Iraq

Anyone still feel that the invasion of Iraq was wrong?

Well, if you're one of those who can't see any reason why we should be in Iraq right now, take a look at this: http://forum.deviantart.com/community/politics/742520/

But why does it have to be our job to do this? Why do we have to be the fucking world police? Why do we have to overthrow a country, get our men and women killed, and drag out a war for years? We knocked over the flower vase and just now are realizing that that's a lot of little pieces of porcelain to pick up and super-glue.

My respect for you has gone down, Tristan.

Because the 1991 cease fire Hussein had violated in all the worst ways was an agreement with the US and 11 other nations. Even after UN Resolution 1441 was passed, giving Hussein one last chance before military intervention, France, Russia, and China were unwilling to uphold it. These three countries vetoed every attempt by the UN to uphold its Resolutions, betraying all who had signed Resolutions 660, 687, and 1441.

If France, Russia, and China were willing to abide by their agreements, then the Iraq war would've been a fully international effort, but they pretty much bailed out. So, the US, Britain, and Australia saw fit to remove the man who was breaking all of his agreements with them.

So, why our men and women? Because we're the ones who refuse to be deceived and betrayed, especially when the deceiver has the capability to strike us without us ever knowing.
