The comment is there as a placeholder if I ever decide to develop on this--and because I'd like to have some of the details of the harrowing adventure to refer back to later if I wanted. "Five minutes later" can work (and is more or less what's there now) but I also think that that particular punchline--since so much was done to set it up ahead of time--could be quite delicious if served cold as well (i.e. if there were more intervening action between the setup and the delivery). I could probably wring an entire chapter out of that exchange, with possibly a bit more at the beginning to set it up (or at least an invitation to drop-by-the-workshop-sometime-there's-something-I-want-to-show-you extended earlier in the story), and use the punchline to close it.
