Hmm. The odds are low on the timing on this working out, but I may be offered a position working in your area. If so, would you be interested in renting your outbuilding, trading for work-around-the-place, etc? Cash-trade and work-trade both work for me, though depending on what they have me doing, probably you'll get more benefit from the cash than the amount of work I'd be able to do.

Of course, I doubt they'll finalize on anything by next weekend, but if they do I'd be happy to dog/cat-sit.
