Skaggs actually used his frequent leering at women to cover up the fact that he was was actually sexually attracted to trees.

Or at least that's my guess, anyway.

She works in the local factory where she is the VP of Button Pushing. She gives the credit of her success to Gabby for inspiring her life's work. Or she works under Ling Ling and often services Pops

Lucy was marked by the wormlings, or more specifically, marked by the mojave rattlers. They're very particular about those they find that are capable of the transformation into a queen. In time, they would swarm wave after wave of wormlings and young rattlers over Red Horse in an attempt to reclaim the girl
