I arrived at work yesterday to find out I'd managed to land $375,000 for my organization through two of the grants I wrote. Faithful readers will remember my constant whinging about one of our grantors rescheduling meetings at the last minute. My tenactiy's paid off, and handsomely at that. And I already thought my home was cluttered? Most of the children's books that I have here were published before 1985, and I'll be damned if I destroy them.

However, I am throwing other stuff out, so perhaps there'll be lead in the stuff I throw out. I know--I'll put it into the mixed-paper recyclables *rolls eyes* ya just can't win. Maybe the EPA will review this and make a recommendation to the Consumer Safety folks.

Of course, we'll all be dead by then, and the books will outlive us.

Remember Golden Books? Was I the only kid that chewed on the gold binging? I seem to have turned out just fine.

Scaremongering would make me laugh if it wasn't so damned effective on so many other people. It crosses that fine line between funny and sad.

Yummmmm....Little Golden Books spines....yummmmm..... *snaps out of it* Yes, you did turn out just fine. Weren't you the one they called "Bite-y"?

Scaremongering just gets me angry, for the reason you state--it exploits many people's feelings of vulnerability. I resent it when I become aware of anyone's nurturing someone else's weakness by such manipulative means. It's something that never leads to a good outcome.

This entry also made me think of the giant Golden Book that your g.f. is reading in one of the userpics. Me burn that? Uhm...I don't think so!

If you had a 2,000 mile jaw... I'm fairly sure this would solve at least some of our teleporter issue. Are we talking extendable/retractacle mandibles here? Or just a freakishly big pelican head?

I've been looking at this all morning and I still have no good way to reply.

The gods are capricious, so I'm going with pelican head, despite my desire for an interior mouth.
