I, too, have considered medical professions as a career in the past.

Then I realized that while I love knowing how the inside of a human/animal works, I don't want to actually see the inside workings of living creatures.

Oral contraceptives,huh? Great, another reason to worry about being on the pill forever: infertile flipper babies.
