On July 4th, Spiny Norman and Fozzie Bear set off on their Mediterranean cruise. Waiting at the airport, Fozzie enjoys a drink while Spiny reads about their first destination.
Arriving at the
Starhotel Metropole Rome Spiny unpacks while Fozzie supervises.
Visiting the Colosseum, they met an odd pair of tourists. The two were booked on the same cruise as Spiny and Fozzie and they horned in on a lot of their pictures.
The next day they visited the Vatican and the Basilica of Saint Peter. The guard had to keep shushing Fozzie when they were in the Sistine Chapel.
On July 7th, they boarded the
Legend of the Seas. The first thing they did was check out their cabin. Spiny looked at shore excursions while Fozzie checked the minibar.
They watched the ship sail away from port. Their first stop was Naples, Italy.
On July 8th they went to Mount Vesuvius. They ran into the odd tourists again. Spiny found some delicious lizards but for some reason Fozzie didn't want any.
It was quite cloudy at the top of the volcano. There’s no smoke or lava or anything in the caldera, just a bunch of rocks.
From there they went to Pompeii.
They were followed again by the odd tourists.
Returning to their cabin, they entertained a visitor during their first “at sea” day.
The next day, the 10th, was Athens, Greece, where they visited the Parthenon.
Afterwords, they entertained another guest, a sea turtle who dropped by.
July 11th was spent at the island of Mykonos, Greece. Wouldn’t you know it? They picked the same beach as those odd tourists.
They had a lovely lunch.
Very garlicy garlic bread. Yumm.
They were very tired after a day in the sun, so they made and early night of it.
July 12th brought them to Rhodes, Greece. Fozzie insists there’s a big statue around here somewhere.
Departing Rhodes, our dynamic duo got ready for their next adventure.
July 13th saw them at Kusadasi, Turkey. At the Basilica of Saint John they met Hobbes the Tiger.
Fozzie got kicked out of the House of the Virgin Mary for cracking jokes. They visited the ancient city of Ephesus too, but neglected to take any pictures.
They entertained a frog. No, a different frog.
And a mouse.
During their next “at sea” day, they had everyone over for a party.
On July 15th they were in Egypt, where they saw the pyramids.
The odd tourists were there too.
There was another “at sea” day on July 16th. Fozzie and Spiny decided to take a tour of the ship.
Fozzie looked for the “Up and Out” button in the Great Glass Elevator, but didn’t find it.
They went to the “Romeo and Juliet” dining room, but it was closed.
Spiny had a good head for numbers and did a little gambling.
They kept an eye out for Lady Luck.
The ship had a couple of Erte statues, which were very nice.
Spiny liked the on-board shops.
Spiny and Fozzie were having such a good time, they started planning their next cruise.
They relaxed in a lounge looking over one of the pools.
After a bit of refreshment they returned to the room.
Where they dressed for dinner.
Then they returned to the “Romeo and Juliet” dining room properly attired.
Their last adventure was at Corfu, Greece.
Their last day was a relaxing one, mostly watching TV.
They packed up their bag.
And took the long flight home.
