I've went through the whole archive, unfortunately, lovely results, but it would it would be awesome if it was still 'active'. :( But I assume discussion has died because of TDS and TCR's lack of slashiness lately.
A lot of it is having to actually belong to the comm (so many authors lock the heck out of their stuff and with good reason and the daily Open Thread is locked to members only) and I know last summer there was a big falling out in the fandom (due largely to the Olivia Munn "article" posted on the Jezebel website) within itself, and I'll just say that some of the behavior caused a several long-time and frequent writers to depart the fandom and/or not frequent the same fan comms they once did.
I still vote that it's pretty slashy, but it has had a criminal lack of tosses (I define "criminal" as "not every night" but I'm willing to be lenient in the hopes we get thrown a bone so it's at least every WEEK). I know you're looking for fic (and I'm not sure if you're into Tumblr), but there are a number of fabulous picture/video/graphic/etc. comms on Tumblr that offer some pretty rare stuff and also occasionally discuss fic:
Why don't people like Olivia Munn? I have no idea who she is. I quit watching TDS and TCR awhile back due to not having ten hours a week to spend watching TV shows every week. Forgive my ignorance. I still write Colbert/Stewart slash however.
I understand why people lock their fics up but it isn't like TDS or TCR mind us slash writers. They are not like Anne Rice or other such authors who forbid writing about their creations. If anything writing TDS or TCR fiction is encouraged. Not to mention that it is RPS which is alot different than writing about storybook characters.
I think the Com is just taking a break for the most part. However a look at News Kink : http://newskink-meme.livejournal.com/709.html#comments will tell you that this Com is not dead. There is still plenty of life left here.
