I do not know what the purpose of shocking a person for not using this device is.

It is not that I don't appreciate a communicator's capabilities, but if I want to speak to someone, I much prefer to go to them in person.

Perhaps I should start publishing haiku.

Haiku? What's the point of that?

To be pleasant to read, and to write. It improves morale. Like music night!

I can not by any means claim to be a master of the verse. But perhaps this humble student of the art can pass a few small ideas on to another.

Haiku?... Now that's one way to keep the scientists off your back, huh?

You never know, it might give them a lesson or two about culture, too.

Perhaps so. One might say we are all ambassadors here.

I have thought of some possibilities for that question, however, few of them seem to make any sense. Their amusement, perhaps.

You are a poet?

Oh, I would not claim that esteemed title. I merely craft a few lines for my own pleasure.

Perhaps.

On the other hand, I've found that most who write in any fashion are their own harshest critics.

Ah, you write haiku as well?

I dabble in the art.

Ah, you should definitely talk to Hijikata-san! I think he misses someone who understands haiku.
