Jun 10, 2011 15:01

So, one of the things we really wanted to do with this comm was hold weekly drabble challenges with themes because, you know, they're fun to write and read and also don't involve too much responsibility. There's no pressure, just play along if you want to, and post your responses in the comments. Here's hoping this works.

This week's theme:

HIGH ( Read more... )

fandoms unite!, you should totally write us stuff, everyone loves a good drabble

Game of Thrones; gen; Taking Over Westeros High (The Targaryen Way) trillianastra June 11 2011, 16:51:05 UTC
(so, I totally failed at the "drabble" part. And, well, it's a Game of Thrones AU in a high school. Which is just... well, yeah... whatever.....)

“Dany! There you are, I’ve been looking for you everywhere….”

Dany resisted the urge to roll her eyes as her brother hurried towards her.

“I was in the library, I needed some books for a project. What did you want, Viserys?”

“I’ve got everything in place. I..weare going to run this school, just like we used to back home. We’ll be like royalty to them ( ... )

Ahhhhh, Dany is my absolute favourite in GOT and this is great. You got Viserys down to a T! You should continue this, I kind of ship Dany/Drogo to my deathbed and it would be totally fun to see it in this sort of setting! I really like this, good job :)

This is brilliant! The characterizations are perfect and are toned down enough to fit the setting, and the idea of Drogo the football player is great. :D I love it!

Inception; Ariadne/Arthur/Eames; slip back out of whack magneticwave June 11 2011, 19:06:56 UTC
The fourth time it happens, Ariadne gives up all hope of subtlety and stomps into Physics twenty minutes later to slam her books, forcefully, onto the lab bench in front of Eames. He is eating an apple in an incredibly distressing manner, lightly licking the skin before each bite, and it is the most obvious, most distracting thing Ariadne has ever seen ( ... )

This is wonderful. I love these three, and this is cute and funny and explains the world they're in without explanation. Brilliant! ♥

Thanks! I love high school AUs, you can just world-build willy-nilly and stuff falls into place.

Bandom; gen; Step One (girl!Brendon) westingturtle June 11 2011, 23:43:46 UTC
Brent had been talking about it in the hallway, how his band needed a new guitarist, how they’d tried a few people but no one stuck. She and Brent were friends, sort of, in that they talked about music sometimes in class, but she hadn’t heard any of this before.

She hadn’t jumped in right then, one of the few times she’d remembered impulse control, but sidled up to him later in Chemistry. “I play guitar.”

He looked over, but she didn’t say anything else, just waited.

“I know you do,” he said finally.

“I’m good.”

He rolled his eyes. “I don’t doubt it Brenda, it’s just. . . .”

She tipped her head to the side and pulled her shoulders straight, pushing her breasts forward a little. If he was going to turn her down for being a girl he could damn well say it. She wasn’t going to apologize.

“My friend Ryan, it’s his band mostly, and he can kind of be an - a jerk. He likes to be in control.”

She stared at him a moment to see if there was anything else, then lifted both her brows in mock surprise. “Gee, an asshole high school ( ... )

D'awww! I have such a soft-spot for genderswap bandom fics, and girl!Brendon is frequently the most adorable. This is lovely; I really like Brent knowing about her parents issues, too. ♥

In my head, they've actually been pretty good friends over the last few years, just not usually at school. Because Brent has other friends and Bren, not really so much good with them.

The Borgias; slight Cesare/Lucrezia if you stand on your head and squint; onehoureternity June 12 2011, 22:01:08 UTC
(So, this is the first thing I've written in Borgias fandom, hope it's OK!)

Lucrezia walks into school on Monday to find that her locker has been vandalized. All sorts of insults have been scrawled all over it, in various shades of Sharpie. They start with 'bitch' and 'whore' and only get worse from there. Lucrezia just sighs, snaps a picture with her phone, and goes to find Cesare.

"Mind if I put of my things in your locker?" she asks. "Mine's been re-decorated." She shows him the picture. He takes the phone and squints, face darkening as he finally makes out the slurs all over the door.

He hands the phone back, his jaw tight, his expression one of forced calm. "They won't be allowed to get away with this," he promises, voice low and angry. "I'll take care of it."

"You've already been reprimanded four times this semester alone for fighting on my behalf," she reminds him ( ... )

locker graffiti ohmygod! I haven't seen this show and I don't care because this is perfect to the point of town politics affecting school life and waiting for revenge is better than immediate retaliation (did you watch Veronica Mars? Because it makes me think of that)
