A post seems to have been removed and a wrist-slapping administered by the mods - well-deserved. The subject of the post was an attack on GDL's behavior and personal appearance at Hub 2. It was good to see that most responses pointed out that, while he may drink rather a lot by some people's standards, and his language can be rough, he behaves well ( Read more... )

Well said. Speaking as one of those people who expect...no, Crave...the raunchiness whenever he and John appear, I really don't get the complaints. He's knows what the fans want and he's extremely obliging...Thankfully. :-)))

I couldn't agree with you more! Hi by the way. I noticed you comment on Emyrldlady's journal, and I thought I'd pop over to see what you have to say.

I think it's such a shame that people think that if someone is a celebrity they're fair game for bashing. And if I had to stand up and talk in front of that many screaming fans, I would need quite a few drinks in me too.

Emyrldlady is a fantastic writer; I didn't want to miss any of her fics.

Thanks for the support on the mini-rant about GDL. He's very young and new to all this fannish uproar, and I too worry about him a little. We've seen so many bright young talents crash and burn. But he seems to be an extremely intelligent and level-headed person who deserves more respect than that post gave him. And there's not enough Scotch in the world to get me up on a stage!

Haha! Yeah! You have to be pretty brave to do what they do!

I adore GDL, so of course I worry about him. I heard this week that he just got engaged to his girlfriend, Gemma. I heard it from a pretty reliable source, but didn't confirm it personally (so don't quote me on that). Who knows, maybe she'll help him settle down a bit. He really does seem like a wonderful person. :)

Thanks for your kind words, and your lovely story about your evening with Gareth. Everything I read about him strengthens my impression of intelligence, humor, and kindness to his fans. The way he stepped up to the plate at that disastrous TorchSong event showed his maturity as a performer and as a man. Barrowman has been a good influence on him in many ways, it seems, and apparently they have a genuine affection for each other ( ... )

I'd like to send you a longer reply but have to get ready for a funeral and I don't know what the hell I've got to wear. I think I'll be sorting out my wardrobe as I search - and probably find something ideal only to find it needs washing!
