Book #1:  "Supernatural:  Bone Key" an original Supernatural novel.  Written by Keith R.A. DeCandido.

The reason I chose it?  Duh.  Because it's Supernatural.  which relates to My Obsession to End All Obsessions, the lovely Jensen Ackles.  :)

My feelings about it, now that I've read it?  Eh.  Reminds me, over and over, that these novelizations

Novelizations are usually awful.
BTW, if you can read Rats Saw God by Rob Thomas. It's YA, but a must read.
Also, since you mentioned that you're a HP fan... Graceling by Cashore. I'm sure your Public Library has both books.

WHY are the novelizations usually awful????? I just don't understand. Unless it really is that the author just doesn't have the passion that the fanfic writers have. 'Cause I spent the entire novel thinking, "I've read better fanfic." Or, "Fanfic writers would've added something here." :)

I think it's in part, because it's an adaptation and not even something original. Even fanfic writers put something original to their stories and writing. So I think writers adapting someone else's work just lose heart.
