Harry Potter was a highly unusual boy in many ways

I stayed up until 3:00 this morning reading Harry Potter fic. It's like I've traveled back to 2006. And now I'm feeling all nostalgic, for the characters I used to love, the communities I used to be a part of, the feeling of being so entirely enchanted with a fandom. It wasn't the books for me so much, or at least, it wasn't the books alone. I ( Read more... )

I like your personal version of events!

HP was my introduction to fandom too. I am feeling all nostalgic about it lately. <3333333

I can't believe it's ending next week! I mean, technically it ended ages ago, because I've never been anywhere as close to passionate about the movies as I was about the books, but still, this is the last. And it's going to bring back all sorts of memories, including the fact that my personal version of events is not actually true, and I am probably going to get all teary in the movie theater.

I've been wanting to write H/D again lately, working through plots and characterisation in my head, and reading it again for the first time in a long time. Maybe you don't ever really get over your first fandom?

It's funny, H/D was one of the few pairings I did not read at all the first time around, but I've read several in the last few days and have enjoyed them. So if you write some, do send it my way! :D

Maybe you don't ever really get over your first fandom?

I think this must be true.

Idek that I can really say I had a FAVORITE part of HP fandom, but I did love how many pairing options there were, and the way the basic text lended itself to plot-intense stories, even if you were a 'ship writer.

My favorite part of HP itself? The relationships: the friendships between the trio, the trust between Dumbledore and Snape, the way Remus listens to Sirius in the shack... Ugh, relationships are my downfall.

This entire comment applies to me. I think that's one thing I have found lacking in so many of the fandoms I have explored since - in HP there were so many characters, so many potential relationships to choose from, so much background that was hinted at and could be explored. I've never found another fandom that was as rich in characters as HP. And, like you, I am all about the relationship.
