I believe that a tin of tea is nearly the only present for coworkers and not-so-close relatives that
costs only $7-8 and that people are really happy to get. Don't you think so?

What kind of promotion you would like to see for Christmas holiday? What would motivate you to go and buy? A sale? A gift sets?

What about a simple 15% sale? Will it motivate you to buy?

I usually only buy online when they're offering free shipping.
Or something crazy like 50 - 70 % off.

Free shipping for any amount of order means that the price of shipping is hidden in the price of tea. It costs me about $9 to send an order of 1 lb to California, yet I charge flat $5 and give free shipping on orders more than $75. It means that I actually lose money every time someone orders just 4oz tea for $7. Of course, I could make the same tea cost $10-11 and give free shipping but, in the end you will pay more.

A word of advice from a tea store owner: never buy a tea that is selling at 50% off. It means that there is something wrong with the tea - it might be old, lost aroma, or many more reasons why the merchant wants to get rid of it fast.

It was a Black Friday Deal.
You shouldn't assume that every deal any company except yours offers is shit.
I only paid $6 dollars for my entire order of three teas. They were regular full price, shipping was just free.

I have never said that. Do not misinterpret me. I am just giving you the view "from inside", the stuff that you normally would not see.

Free shipping could be done to let you try their tea, nothing wrong with that. But you should realize and appreciate that the store lost money on you.

Something like "buy 2 get the 3rd 50% off plus free shipping" is always tempting.

Since each tea is different in price it is not easy to implement.
How about 10-15% off for everything? I will amount to the same

I went nuts during black friday, so I don't think I'd buy any more tea. Overall, I like free shipping at the $30-$35 threshold with a couple 1oz free of one's choice. Even better with a couple free samples (like a cup or two worth) thrown in.
I like smaller sampler packs around 1oz or 30g - I'm one of those huge stash people and rather not get someone stuck with 2oz or 50g+ of tea they will not like and give them a fun range.

I got really mad for one recent tea purchase, they wanted $9 to ship 3oz of tea, US seller to US shipping. If there is a sale, the shipping has to be reasonable!

The big way to rope me in is low-priced samples. This is why I consistently buy from Upton Tea Imports. But nearly all the other companies I favor offer small sample sizes. It's especially important when buying from a new company ( ... )
