Black Dragon Pearls

When I was in Vegas, I stopped by Teavana and picked up some black dragon pearls because I fell in love with the smell. Now, I'm in total love with the tea. Teavana gave me about 2oz for $15. I got a decent dose of tea, and I still have plenty left ( Read more... )

Teavana has super-yummy teas, at ridiculous prices. I've had both dragon pearls, and I really believe Adagio's are better...just make sure you get them in small amounts because they lose pungency very quick. I suggest getting the sampler pack, trying a few different teas, and praying that they still throw in a sample of the gingerbread tea they do this time of year. Absolutely wonderful.

My husband fell in love with Teavana's samurai chai and we were able to get a comparable tea from Harris Teeter's bulk tea section. Teavana is great for ideas, but I rarely purchase from them.

I also enjoy Teavana's black dragon pearls, but I agree with Eternaldepth's reply: you can find as good or better elsewhere for cheaper. Yes, they may be a bit different from Teavana's (or perhaps not - I've heard from ex-Teavana employees that they sometimes buy from distributors and repackage) but there's a good chance they'll be as good if not better.

i enjoy tevanas Black Dragon Pearls, but i just can't justify spending as much as they ask for it. i would say give it a shot and try the cheeper one while you still have the other to compaire. my friend calls it dragon ball tea. XD;;

From my experience Teavana tends to be very high quality but even higher-priced. I think most of its teas are overpriced...except for their unique blends that you can't find elsewhere, I've almost always been able to get equivalent teas for a much lower price.

My favorite source of tea is Upton Tea Imports...it's also the best of the best in quality, but its prices are extraordinarily reasonable. They don't have any tea labeled as "black dragon pearls"...but they do have other tippy yunnan teas, and they do have a "black gunpowder" tea which comes in that "pearl" form. I haven't tried any of these teas so I can't say--but I will say I have never been disappointed by anything from Upton.
