Ten Second Movie Reviews

Sure, I could write prolific essays about my impressions and feelings of the films. However, I've been annoyed lately with people who write lengthy, rambling and uninteresting posts on communities, so I'll keep THIS one short and sweet.

Movies that I've seen lately:

Ratatouille - Remy is super cute. Mmm. Food. What is in a ratatouille, ( Read more... )

Harry Potter OOTP - Rushed and terrible. Lacks emotional resonance or real character development. Actors great. Can't believe this director is in charge of the sixth film, too. Where's Alfonso Cuaron when you need him? The fight scene makes it worth my money, but I left feeling empty and cheated.

I hadn't read the books in awhile; I enjoyed it more than the 4th installment, which really felt rushed/choppy.

After I got home I realized how much they had left out, and THEN I was disappointed.

I made the mistake of reading the book right before I watched the movie. I think though, that it feels like the director isn't even interested in making a coherent film in OOTP. It was like he wanted to throw as much info on the screen as he could before getting to the "good" part--which was the ministry battle ( ... )

Loved The Queen. Would have enjoyed HP were I not so hungover at the time of viewing, but I do recall that I also didn't find it to resonate as much as, say, the 4th film. I think that's also because the 5th book is about HP pouting about how no one believes him and he has to go it alone. But, yes, your brain is turning to mush, as is mine.

yeah, the ending to THE FOUNTAIN was simultaneously over the top, yet anti-climatic, at least from the p.o.v. of moviewatcher vs. art fan. i did love the movie though. it wasn't impossible to follow but the first 2 times i started watching it, i didn't feel invested enough in the story to suspend my non-comprehension of what was going on...but i'm glad i popped it in a 3rd time because i really thought it was beautiful.

THE FOUNTAIN was simultaneously over the top, yet anti-climatic These are my thoughts exactly. It's a gorgeous film but I felt that the end just meanders for a long time without saying anything significant. Since we're both pretty bright women, I'm sure it's NOT because we've somehow missed the point.

I'm a sucker for the story-within-a-story formats, and the characters were wonderful and sympathetic and the actors superb. I agree with you, though, that you really have to be in a particular mindset to fully appreciate the film.
