Okay, Having a couple of bad training days. I will post video later of our Silvia homework, but really, I am having some real moments of oh i suck, lol
( Read more... )
Man, the old dogs, I don't envy you. My dogs have all made the decision for me (so to speak), so I can't speak from experience. I hope you find peace and joy in your time together.
as for Flyte, doesn't EVERY young dog bite it's trainer for the toy? I have MARKS ALL OVER ME! I just expect him to grow out of it (Razor did)... Until them, I walk the world, bruised and battered (and tell people Tammy did it). ;)
I am sorry about Skidder and the decisions that need to be made. :-(
Have you done some shaping with Flyte about going through uprights/over jumps? If not, that might help her to seek them out. Start without movement and then add movement in. Sounds like she is keying in on your movement and wanting to control it like a good border collie. ;-)
I know others have had that trouble with Dawn Weaver. At first we did have some bouncing email problems and I didn't hear from her after I submitted my first video. I emailed Christine (?), the one who sends the lessons, and checked in with her and then we got our email problem solved and everything has been fine since then. Although I haven't emailed her lately.
Flyte is actually doing a little better with the jumps. I remembered that she's only seen jumps with wraps, not with going FORWARD, so i went back and recalled her over, etc. and I think she's getting it better.
Oh, that's so difficult with Skidder, I totally sympathize - and Flyte is not helping. :-( Flyte is Tate's sibling, right? I think Shelly has struggled with him having too much handler focus as well.
Flyte is the Shelly's other pups sister.... Starts w a B? Merle boy... My brain is fried.... No flyte is not helping. I just laid down w Skidder for a while and I think it's time, it's getting too hard for her.... ;(
Please come give Flyte a talking to, please. Tomorrow I'm going to do more sending work with either a cone, or the jumps, I think i just need to build more commitment over time. She will send willingly to the tunnel :) And yes, Dutch.
It's good to be back and it makes it so clear to me how much I don't tell people on a daily basis - that is, how so little of my life is shared with other people, and how weird that is, given that I LOVE friends. So thanks.
So sorry to hear about Skidder's decline -- it is always so hard to make these decisions since we second guess every thought and watch every movement. I know that your decision will be as correct as it is hard....
I remember the first time I heard about and met Skidder. I think it was at a CAT USDAA trial in Canby? Luckily, not two Kidders, but rather a Skidder and a Kidder.
That is a great photo of Skidder with a great smile. Hugs!

I would recommend going back to the cone if she is having difficulty with commitment. Sends to cones, helped Freddie anyway.
And Dutch, I think the puppy is named Dutch.
Also, I LOVE having you back in the lJ community.
