I think the traditional should be a set 10. I believe at your current level you are skilled enough to do great things and can ask this much. I think the badges are at a good price, but can go up if needed. I will pay up to 50 for a digital badge, On the pinup I say 25 on the traditional pieces, because I personally think it is harder to color with markers and such and you get to actually own the piece. Which is always a very cool thing.

Well shipping is going to be factored separately, but yeah more for traditional regardless sounds right. Gotta cover marker costs!

IMO the sketches can be padded up to $8-10 since they're nice and clean.

The tad ref sheets, I'm thinking $45 might be good. Everythig else seems aiight!

Thank you bb! That really helps, especially on the sketches. I always felt they were underpriced.

The way I tend to reccomend people price their work is the "minimum wage standard". Take the minimum wage of your state/federal minimum, multiply it by hours spend on an average piece of the type you're pricing.

That would work if I actually ever paid attention to how many hours things took lol! I'll time some stuff this week and see.

That's great if you're trying to be fair. I'm not sure it's so great if you're trying to get customers, though. The ~furry fandom~ seems to be pretty bad for people underpricing thsemelves, but that also means you have to be more competitive with your prices.

I dunno. Your way makes a lot of sense, but I'm not sure most customers would see it that way. They seerm to think art is somehow less legitimate than other jobs.

I totally agree, and sadly it's sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy. I've experienced the other way around, too, though - I used to charge $2 for anything a customer wanted - badge, fullcolor, whatever - but it wasn't until I started charging 20+ that I actually got consistent work. Sometimes people take you more seriously and are more interested if you charge a little more.

I find that being competitive with my prices makes me feel like my time spent wasn't worth money earned. So I just price the way I feel is fair - this also tends to weed out the cheap customers, the bad customers, the disrespectful customers, the customers looking for someone to walk all over.

As for them thinking art is a somehow less legitimate job, I definitely agree that it's a perception in the fandom that art is for fun, not work. But when I really sit down with someone and explain to them the experiences I've had, how I work 16 hour days to make ends meet, they usually start to get it.

I WOULD HELP, BUT YOU ALREADY THINK I'M UNDERPRICING MYSELF, SO... D:

YOUR ADVICE IS STILL WELCOME. ;; You tend to be better about pricing others than pricing yourself lol.

Well, I was going low on purpose with these prices. XD I really really really needed money when I opened for commissions this summer.

Let me think about your prices and get back to you later. They'll probably be lower than you'd like, though; even if it's not fair, I'm pretty sure that sells better. (Although yeah, like isilbastet was saying, you shouldn't go too low. What he was saying about having charged $2 in the past was just ridiculous. D: But you already don't go that low, so 's good.)
