The dance was SO STRANGE. The whole time that was happening, I was going WHAT IS THIS? THIS IS WEIRD. STOP IT! I think showing a sibling relationship is a very difficult thing to execute on screen, especially since it was never developed in the previous films. I really hope people who never read the books won't cause a riot when Ron and Hermione kiss in the next film. haha.
RON! I was so happy with his personality in this film! I'm glad he wasn't the butt of every joke this time around. And that scene in the field when Harry wanted to leave? Very Ron to give him a good talk.
Definitely agree, Kreacher and Dobby were utilised in their full form. I adore Dobby so much!
The Tale of Three Brothers scene was wonderful too, yeah? It was strange to see something different, but it really provided the imagery of a fairy tale.
YES. EXACTLY! It was just like... What? Why are you in my movie? GTFO! That could have been exchanged for a better scene in my opinion. Or more Luna. Or more Bellatrix. They probably will cause a riot. Lol. People are dumb.
Finally. Finally Ron was the awesomeness in the movie that he is in the books. That talk with Harry was epic win and so were his thoughts on the Horcruxes. I was like... Really? They gave Ron something smart to say? This bodes well!
Oh yeah! I wasn't expecting that at all, but it was really amazing. Shadow puppets was a brilliant idea and Emma Watson did a great job of reading it.
what chapter is the movie split in half at? i've still not finished DH and i'm at chapter 14 sighhhh :( i wanna finish the chapters that are in the movie before this weekend. :)
Hoped over from the Harry potter community, hope you don't mind.
I was crying five minutes into the movie when they showed hermione oblivating her parents, it was just referenced in the book but it was so incredibly sad, I loved that he added it in though it wasn't a big thing in the book
And the dancing scene was so ridiculous!! I totally cringe when I saw it. I did adore Rupert and Emma though they are so good together!!! It's nice to talk about it with people who have read the books, my hubby has never read a single one, he just watches the movies with me, sigh...
I cried during that scene too! It was just so sad to see the sacrifice Hermione made being projected on screen. No one understood why I was crying, but it was seriously and very genuinely the saddest part of the film!
You can talk about the film if you want to! I have friends who read the book but they're not as obsessive as I am.
OMG!! my hubby couldn't understand why i was crying, nice to know i'm not the only crazy one
and i just realised u stay in brunei and singapore, i'm from singapore!!! hehe.... yeah my friends are not as obsessive as me either, but my obsession has gone down quite a bit compared to before when i used to stalk mugglenet and stuff.
let me think about what else about the movie before i post here :) oh and can i add u as a friend?
I think I can honestly enlighten on the tent scene with Harry & Hermione dancing. At least in my eyes, along with the part where she told him that he should never let her cut his hair again (I really don't think that's a spoiler).
When they did both those scenes, I at FIRST thought it was kind of weird. Sexual, what not. Than I kind of thought about it during the movie, and I came to the conclusion that was the actual purpose for it.
Another purpose for it was to put that in there, and to show that neither Harry nor Hermione did actually have feelings for one another. They are dancing like giddy friends, than stop and are staring close to one another... than she just walks away. Subtle things like that really make a movie, and that really helped. To show that neither Harry nor Hermione like one another. At all.
I definitely see the purpose of the dance scene which was the end of it, and I do see it as a strong end in bridging Hermione and Ron's connection. I think maybe the actors could have projected the dance better? Maybe it's not my culture, but the beginning did seem very intimate. By the middle of it, it looked more friendlier. I would understand it better if it began from there.
I didn't see too much into the haircut scene (which I thought was strange for Ron to react deeply into.) People need haircut but not everyone need to dance that close. ;)
For the haircut scene afterwards, when she told him (after Ron was gone) that he should never let her cut his hair ever again, right after she said that, they just stared at each other for a few moments. Which is why I included it.
What I enjoyed, and chuckled at, *SPOILERS*
was Harry & Hermione in... orb form? making out. I was like, alright... little kisses to fuck with Ron's head. Than they just began going crazy against one another, naked orbness and I was like WOAH! Calm down bro & sis!

During Dobby's death and then a brief scene where Voldemort takes the Elder Wand.

Same goes for the hair scene.
