Summary: Just a light hearted Christmas drabble I wrote quickly.
Inspired by my cats waking me up early this morning, and not letting me go back to sleep.
JaeJoong muttered in his sleep and rolled over, his brain registering a weight tapping against his chest in his unconscious state. It came again, and the young man slowly began to wake up. More weight added to his chest, and JaeJoong cracked open his eyes. In the dark, he could make out the shape of Vick’s large form sat on his bed next to him, one large paw on his chest.
“No Vick, let me sleep,” JaeJoong moaned, eyes closing again. Vick however, seemed to think that his human had had enough sleep, and continued to paw at him.
JaeJoong rolled over again, pulling the blanket up over his head.
The bedroom door creaked open slightly, and JaeJoong glanced over to see Harang poke his head through. The warm brown eyes of the Alaskan Malamute rested on JaeJoong for a few seconds, then turned to YooChun, still asleep on the bed at the other end of the room. Giving a happy ruff sound, Harang trotted over to YooChun’s bed and jumped up, going straight in to lick YooChun’s face.
Rustled at the attention not being on him, Vick grabbed JaeJoong’s blanket in his mouth and pulled it off, tail wagging as finally JaeJoong gave up on sleep.
He could hear YooChun wake up and cuddle Harang, and although he wasn’t looking, JaeJoong new the other man would have a big dopey grin at seeing his ‘son’ first thing in the morning, on Christmas morning too.
“Jae! Presents!”
“Un huh, great,” JaeJoong still mumbled, reaching up a hand to scratch behind Vick’s ear.
Suddenly, the bedroom door bust open with a bang, causing both humans and dogs to jump in fright. All heads whipped around in time to see and pyjama clad JunSu come running in, Shaki at his heels. With a happy squeal, he threw himself at YooChun, tackling him on his bed, and proceeded to tickle him senseless. Laughing and giggling, YooChun managed to escape, and the two being play wrestling on the bed, both their dogs barking and joining in, jumping on top of them both with furiously beating tails.
JaeJoong chuckled and sat up, pulling himself out of bed. Following him, Vick jumped down onto the floor, and looked at JaeJoong expectantly, waiting for his next move.
He called merry Christmas to the two wrestling, getting out of breath replies due to all the giggling. “I’m going to make breakfast.”
“OK hyung!” JunSu called, promptly letting out another dolphin squeal and YooChun tickled his stomach. He wiggled away and jumped to his feet, still on the bed. “I’ll race you to the presents Chunnie!”
JaeJoong and Vick had only just gotten to the bedroom door when the two younger men and a pair of dogs went flying past at a speed YooChun had never moved before so early in the morning. “Wait until Yunnie and Min are up before opening presents!” JaeJoong called after them, but they seemed to pay no attention. “Aish, little brats.”
While YooSu and pets ran into the living room, JaeJoong and Vick headed for the kitchen, where they found that the other two were in fact already up. ChangMin was sat at the kitchen table, Mandongie stood on the table in front of him, being fed little pieces of ice cream by Minnie. YunHo was stood near the sink, Taepoong jumping up and down at his chest, as hyper as ever, and a pear of red reindeer antlers attached to his head.
Noticing him first, YunHo gave JaeJoong a bright toothy grin, temporarily attempting to ignore Taepoong. “Morning Jae, merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas Yunnie,” JaeJoong smiled back.
ChangMin looked over, and promptly greeted his hyung with “breakfast time now?”
JaeJoong rolled his eyes, “not until you greet me properly.
Faster than light, ChangMin swept up his startled Maltese, was out of his seat and had his arms wrapped around JaeJoong, leaving poor little Mandongie trapped between them. “Merry Christmas, my lovely, favourite, not at all stingy hyung!”
JaeJoong was going to complain about the greeting, but ChangMin gave him the mismatched eyes of happiness, and he was lost. Even if ChangMin was now the tallest, one of the strongest, and had defiantly grown some hard muscle, those mismatched eyes of his never failed to make him look as innocent as a little puppy.
Physically feeling his heart melting, JaeJoong nodded, and patted ChangMin’s head. “OK, breakfast time.”
Grinning at his successes, ChangMin retreated back to the table, much to his squished dog’s relief.

After making breakfast, the three brought it into the living room, to share with the other two, who’d already begun unwrapping presents, still grinning like loons.
Vick and Mandongie went over to inspect the wrapping paper along with Harang and Shaki, while Taepoong continued to jump up at YunHo, this time trying to get his food.
Failing at getting the Siberian Husky to sit, YunHo gave in, and gave him a little bit of his food. Happy at this, Taepoong doubled his efforts, wanting even more, and YunHo simply gave up, putting the entire plate down for the dog. The other four were all sat on the floor, next to the pile of presents under the Christmas tree, and the leader joined them, stealing a piece of food from JunSu’s plate while the younger was occupied finding out what his next present was.
It was still dark outside the window, a soft sheet of snow falling. Inside, brightly coloured wrapping paper littered the floor, the Christmas tree glowed a mixed colour of lights, and all five were content. They shared one more “merry Christmas”, hugging their dogs to them, and ChangMin got up to make some hot chocolate.
It may have not been the best year for Dong Bang Shin Ki, but things could only ever get better, and all five were determined to make it so.
