Nice piece.

I like how Jack clues in here and there as they recount the mission. And calls them on it.

I think that's what was sadly lacking in S9 & S10 - anyone questioning Cam's hair-brained actions.

Heh, well, I don't really have a problem with Cam, but I won't get into that here. ;) Glad you liked it!

I'm not saying I don't understand they had to do something like bring someone in - RDA didn't want to be there, and Amanda was having a baby. I just thought it odd that he could just go off half-cocked without anyone calling him on it. I mean, whenever SG-1 has had hair-brained schemes before, even if they saved the day, they got called on disobeyed orders or whatever.

I attribute a lot of those things to there being too many people on stage. There was lots of great stuff that got cut for length, let alone not included, just by virtue of trying to find screen time for five people instead of four. An hour just isn't long enough for all the story that could have been told. If something is going to be left out, it pretty much has to be the character stuff, as it's the plot stuff that makes the story move forward.
Oh, misread your post-sounds like you're talking about something that occurred when there were only four of them... Still, I think my answer applies. Character stuff that really should be in there is often sacrificed to the needs of plot/action. And, in this case, a lot of stuff that missed that culling was sacrified to make room for broader humor. Not my personal choice, but as many people liked it as didn't, so I can't draw any conclusions from that. It's a matter of personal taste, I guess. I've even talked to people who didn't like seasons three and four, as hard as that is to believe! :)

Carter nodded. “It’s all about them, and the rest of the galaxy can go hang.”

“I’m surprised they haven’t ascended already.” O’Neill raised an eyebrow and looked at Daniel. “Sounds like they’d fit right in.”

Okay, that just made me laugh. :)

I liked this very much (and how did I miss this?). I've always been saddened that TPTB took the Jaffa dream of Ascension and... perverted it. Teal'c's disgust seemed very real and very right.

Also, very nice to see S8-era having that wordless communication thing going. :)

Very lovely, all round.

Yes, it makes me feel very sad for Daniel and the Jaffa, how it turned out. They were so... happy and hopeful. On the other hand, the Ascended create a lot more story fodder this way. ;)

It's not all that surprising that you missed it, given that I was weeks late! I'm so very glad you liked it!

Nice. I do love Teal'c thinking of Jack while he blows stuff up, and then being oh-so-reasonable while explaining why he felt it was necessary to blow stuff up.

Thanks! Heh, Teal'c is often the voice of calm reason, even when he isn't being all that calm or resonable. ;) Doesn't everyone think of Jack when they blow stuff up? I know I do! :)

This was a great look at Teal'c's thoughts on slavery and keeping the universe on an even keel. I love how he just went in and took control of the situation when the opportunity arose. He knew what had to be done and he did it.

This was really a wonderful story! Thank you for writing it!!
