Golden Compass thingie. From what I've seen on the sites and such it looks like a cool movie. Several friends have recommended the books, so I think I have something lined up for when I finish Kushiel's Dart.

For the past few days I've been in southern Washington on the coast with friends. We went to the beach, but I think our trip was mainly about eating. I had these breaded and blackened oysters that were so tender that they melted in my mouth and I could completely ignore the fact that an oyster looks disgusting inside when you cut it in half. I also had the best over-easy eggs that I can remember and I had not one, but two clam chowders that were both superb but in different ways. I had exactly one alcoholic drink all trip, a Bloody Mary, which was good but not as good as I can make. And I had two desserts on the trip, a chocolate cheesecake (divine) and a chocolate volcano brownie (to die for).

The cabins we stayed at did not, in fact, have a wireless cloud over them as they advertised, but in this way we were barred from doing much homework. Instead we ate, laughed, explored the beach, took naps, read until we fell asleep, and slept in. Actually, there was an awful lot of eating and sleeping involved, perhaps to make up for the rest of this semester. Also, at the very end of the trip, we went to a comic book shop (on Free Comic Book Day, no less!) and I got a Batman vs. Aliens trade paperback. Yes, you read that correctly. Batman...and the Alien. It pretty much screamed my name from the shelf and I was unable to not buy it.
