Lorna knew she was a good few days late, but the shipping company had apologised and maybe it would be more of a surprise for Emma if she was late. Still, standing just outside the mess hall, holding a carefully wrapped parcel in her hands and biting her lower lip, Lorna was pretty sure she look the epitome of edgy.
She'd already had to fend off questions from two guards, the third one that tried it, she let a magnetic field sort of pulse around her, just to warn him off. She was nervous enough -back at the Academy, when birthday's rolled around, they all pitched in. It was easier to give one thing from all of them than several small things that were crap. But this time, it was just Lorna. And she'd tried so hard to find the right thing and not make it shit.
Emma's approval meant a lot to Lorna, it wasn't a big secret, but she still wanted Emma to like her present. And the necklace and bracelet set were something that Lorna really thought Emma might appreciate.
Now, she was just waiting for Emma to pick up her morning coffee, so that she didn't embarrass herself, stammering over her words in Emma's office like a school girl again.
