I know a lot of people won’t agree with me on this one, but I am going to go out on a limb and call this episode an EPIC FAIL - at least for me.

I think Option #2 is very realistic. At least it is how I interpreted the episode's role in the overall story ( ... )

I agree with pierhias, Option #2 is very realistic. and most interesting, you're right the angst was too much in the private life of the characters and I'm never a big fan of that when it comes to crime shows of any kind.

I think the tension between Gibbs and Vance is there and might come on the side, but I'm not a big fan of that idea. I'd like to see the director stand more behind his teams. I started liking Vance attitude towards end of last season but now I feel like his own people can't trust him.
